At the European AI in Science Summit in Dublin, the European Commission launched the RAISE pledging initiative, inviting companies and philanthropic organisations to support researchers who use AI in science.
Pledges are voluntary and mainly in kind: access to AI models, computing capacity, research software, data and training.
Mistral AI and CERN announced a partnership to develop the largest foundation model in physics, and the RAISE Hub, Forum and Observatory went live. Pledges will be reviewed every year.
Why it matters
RAISE is becoming the EU's umbrella for AI in science, and it already has its own Horizon Europe call in Cluster 4. For technology providers, a pledge is a low-cost way to gain visibility with research organisations and with the Commission ahead of future RAISE funding rounds.
